Denver Broncos offensive lineman, John Moffitt, is calling it quits after a short career in the NFL.

The third-year player told the Broncos he didn't play to return after its bye week, and revealed the news via Twitter on Tuesday (Nov. 5)."Football was fun but my head hurts-haha kidding roger goodell. I'm on to new things, thanks to everyone along the way!!!" Moffitt tweeted (@Moffitt74).

He also told the AP he just wasn't happy playing the league, and wouldn't compromise his happiness for money.?"I just really thought about it and decided I'm not happy. I'm not happy at all," Moffitt said. "And I think it's really madness to risk your body, risk your well-being and risk your happiness for money.

"Everybody, they just don't get it and they think it's crazy. But I think what I was doing is crazy," he continued.

Moffitt was a third-round pick by Seattle out of Wisconsin in 2011. He had a $625,000 base salary this year, and was scheduled to make a base salary of $752,500 next year.

The 27-year-old explained that the health risks ?in football and time away from his family just isn't worth it.?"Once you tear away all the illusions of it, it's hard work. And it's dangerous work. And you're away from your family. And it's not good for families. It's very tough on families," Moffitt told the AP.
